Following the release of an expanded 20th-anniversary edition of her classic debut album Let Go, Spotify Singles has brought us more brand-new Avril Lavigne music.
Following the recent release of the expanded 20th-anniversary edition of her debut, Let Go, Avril Lavigne has also made the title track to her 2022 album “Love Sux” available in an acoustic form on Spotify Singles. She has also made her own version of Adele’s 2015 hit “Hello”.
“I love Adele’s song ‘Hello’ and have been dying to do a cover of it,” said Lavigne on Twitter. “The Spotify Singles sessions were a fun opportunity to finally do this cover as well as reimagine my own song ‘Love Sux’ as an acoustic version.”
Adele’s Reaction to Avril Lavigne
It appears that Adele is a fan of Lavigne as well. The “Hello” creator said during a 2021 Instagram livestream, “Do you know what? I do like Avril Lavigne. Her first record, I listen to all the time. I think it’s such a great record”.
The “Singles” feature on Spotify, which debuted in 2016, provides musicians the chance to cover one of their own songs in addition to paying homage to other musicians. Avril Lavigne takes down the original, electric version of “Love Sux” on the “Single” version from her newest album, her first since joining with Travis Barker’s DTA label, and substitutes a choir of backup singers for a moodier pop-punk “Hello”.
Lavigne, who is presently on a global tour that will culminate with three shows at London’s 02 in May 2023, recently discussed the revival of pop-punk and her relationship to it in the present.
“I’m stoked that pop-punk music, it’s coming back around right now and people are falling back in love with it,” stated Lavigne. “And it’s almost in a weird way, it feels bigger than ever right now.”
Lavigne also added, “I’m in a happy place in my life, and it’s fun and it reflects that”.
