Anupam Kher to Play Jayaprakash Narayan in Kangana’s Emergency

Actress Kangana Ranaut’s new look from her upcoming film Emergency has already created a lot of buzz among the fans, and the first look of Kangana as India’s former President Indira Gandhi has already received a lot of appreciation from the fans. Now the first look of actor Anupam Kher is revealed and the actor portrays the role of Jayaprakash Narayan in the film.

Anupam Kher will be playing an important role in the film, as it was seen that Narayan was a significant opponent of Indira Gandhi during the time of 1970s. Whereas earlier then month, a short video of the film was introduced to the audience. Kangana is directing the film, and along with that her banner Manikarnika Films is producing the film “Emergency.”

Meanwhile talking about the film emergency it is presumably set during the 21 month period from 1975-1977, which is also said as one of the darkest periods of the independent India. While Indira Gandhi was the president at that point of time.

Kangana Spoke About the Challenge of Playing a Public Figure

Ranaut spoke about the film and said in a statement “Emergency reflects one of the most important periods in Indian political history which changed the way we view power and that’s why I decided to tell this story.” She also spoke about playing the character onscreen and said that playing a public figure on the screen is always a challenge because one has to get the look, the characteristics and the persona right. She further revealed that she had given a significant amount of time related to the researching of the subject of the film.  

She further spoke about the terms of understanding the audience and said that she understands their ‘pulse’. She further continued saying, “I do believe that I know the pulse of the audience from my interviews, my quotes and the terms that I have coined are now part of pop culture (laughs). I do believe that the audience is looking for something which will stimulate their intellectual side and not just their sensual side,” she said.
