Another Hunger Games movie in the making?
Earlier this week, Lionsgate productions confirmed that the movie for the Hunger Games prequel is officially in the works.
The film studio confirmed that it was making Suzanne Collins’ upcoming novel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a few years before the multi-million-pound franchise books.
Director Francis Lawrence, the man behind Catching Fire and Mockingjay, is already in the film, as is Nina Jacobson, who produced all the Hunger Games films, and screenwriter Michael Arndt.
According to reports, The new book, set 64 years before the original books, will take place in the “dark days” 10 years after the Panem war.
Unlike previous books, focused on the young Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence), the prequel focuses on a male protagonist, a young Coriolanus Snow.
Fans will remember an elderly Coriolanus Snow, the current Snow of Panem president played by Donald Sutherland, as the brutal tyrant of Catching Fire.
The movie could see a 2021 release.
