LeBron James and Kyrie Irving went through an ugly breakup years ago, when Kyrie Irving left the Cleveland Cavaliers.
However, despite their past, even James can’t help but stand up for the guy in regards to his current situation with New York City mandates.
Throughout this long season, the New York has had strict COVID-19 protocols, which has not allowed the star guard from playing in home games without the vaccine. Much of those protocols have been lifted, including the city’s mask mandate.
Unfortunately, the rules still limit Irving’s ability to play. He is compelled to just stand on the sidelines and watch his team compete on the court. This whole thing has been a bit confusing, and even the NYC Mayor was confronted by confused citizens on the matter.
Amid the support from fans for Kyrie Irving to be allowed to take the court again, LeBron James became the latest to voice his support in a reply on Twitter.
Here’s what the King said:
“FACTS FACTS FACTS!! It literally makes ABSOLUTELY ZERO SENSE!!! They say if common sense was common then we’d all have it. Ain’t that the truth. #FreeKyrie,” James tweeted.
LeBron James Himself Faced Some Controversy Over His Vaccination Status
Back in September, James had received a lot of flak for refusing to condemn the unvaccinated.
Back then, LeBron had said, “We’re talking about individuals’ bodies, We’re not talking about something that’s political or racism or police brutality, things of that nature. We’re talking about people’s bodies and well-being. So I don’t feel like, for me personally, that I should get involved in what other people do for their bodies and their livelihoods.”
Of course, there’s not much that LeBron, or anyone else, can really do about the mandates. It’s all in the hands of the people running the city, and they seem reluctant to expedite Kyrie’s return. There’s really nothing left to do but to be patient and watch how this situation unfolds further.
