After only two weeks, Spider-Man: No Way Home is already profitable

After only two weeks, Spider-Man: No Way Home is already profitable. No Way Home, the 27th overall film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third Spider-Man film co-produced by Sony and Marvel Studios, was released on December 17 in the United States and managed to surpass all expectations.

The film was expected to gross roughly $130 million in its first weekend, but it ended up grossing $260 million, making it the second greatest domestic debut of all time behind Avengers: Endgame.

NWH is already profitable

In less than a week, the Spider-Man film surpassed No Time to Die as the highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year globally, a feat that took the James Bond film months to achieve.

Following that, No Way Home quickly surpassed the $1 billion mark in only 12 days, making it the first and only film to do so since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Now, some new numbers point to even better news for Sony and Marvel’s bottom lines.

According to Deadline, Spider-Man: No Way Home is already on track for a $242 million net profit after just 10 days in cinemas, based on the film’s total $1.057 billion gross.

The film’s production budget is said to be $200 million. No Way Home’s net profit, on the other hand, is expected to nearly triple to $610 million, according to financial projections. This is assuming the movie ends its theatrical run with a $1.75 billion gross as insiders expect.

If No Way Home’s net profit is $610 million, as expected, it will be Sony’s most profitable film of all time, outperforming their two previous Spider-Man films, Homecoming ($200 million) and Far From Home ($339), as well as another of their $1 billion grossing films, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle ($305 million). Avengers: Infinity War ($500 million), Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($417.5 million), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ($300 million) are among Disney and Marvel’s most successful films.
