WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Spider-Man: No Way Home
Following the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans are urging Sony to bring back The Amazing Spider-Man 3 starring Andrew Garfield.
As a result of a spell gone bad in the latest Spider-Man film, a slew of famous faces from old and new Marvel Comics films appear, pulled in from across the multiverse.
Old villains like Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) were mentioned in the trailers, but a few appearances were kept a mystery.
Amazing Spider-Man 3
There are a lot of shocks in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as the local friendly hero were the two that got fans the most excited. From 2002 to 2007, Maguire played Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, which was followed by Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man films from 2012 to 2014. Despite repeated refusals from those connected with the film, their appearances in No Way Home were the subject of numerous leaks and rumors and based on the fan reaction thus far, they did not disappoint.
The Amazing Spider-Man franchise wasn’t supposed to finish where it did, but due to the bad reception of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as Sony’s plans for the franchise moving ahead, the planned sequel was scrapped.
After Sony struck a contract with Marvel Studios to incorporate the character into the MCU, the subsequent spinoffs that were planned were also canceled. Garfield’s time as Peter Parker came to an end with this film, much to the dismay of his fans, but now that audiences can see him slide back into the costume in No Way Home, there’s a newfound interest in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has been a huge hit, thanks in part to the fun factor. After his debut appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker rapidly became a fan favorite, and bringing back old, beloved characters added to the film’s appeal.
After his run was cut short, fans never expected to see Garfield’s Spider-Man on the big screen again, so this is a terrific treat. This wasn’t the first time a Spider-Man series was canceled; when Spider-Man 4 was canceled, the same destiny bedevils Maguire’s movies.
