With ‘Next Level,’ aespa reached a new milestone on January 28 shortly after 1 a.m. KST (9:30 p.m. IST)!
The music video for the song by the girl group has officially surpassed 200 million views on YouTube, making it aespa’s the fastest music video to achieve so.
Following the song’s release in May 2021, the video hit the mark in just over eight months.
‘Next Level’ achievement
Following their debut music video, ‘Black Mamba,’ which took around 13 months to reach this milestone, aespa’s second music video, ‘Next Level,’ has crossed 200 million views on the site. ‘Next Level’ is not only the second-fastest music video among fourth-generation groups to accomplish this milestone, but it is also the fastest by any SM Entertainment artist. ‘Next Level’ is also the third most-watched video of all 2021 girl group music videos, after TWICE’s ‘The Feels’ and ‘Alcohol Free.’
The hip-hop and dance-based song continues aespa’s pursuit for the ‘Black Mamba’ in the fictional universe of ‘Kwangya.’ ‘Next Level’ was aespa’s second Top 5 entry on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales list, and it was also higher on the Billboard Global 200 than their previous single, ‘Black Mamba.’ Aespa became the third girl group to chart a song on the Billboard Global 200 multiple times as a result of this feat.
Aespa made their SM Entertainment debut in November 2020 with the single “Black Mamba.” Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning are the four members of the group. To represent the idea of’meeting another self and experiencing a new world,’ the group’s name combines the first letters of the phrases ‘avatar’ and ‘experience’ with the word ‘aspect.’
