Adele Opens Up About Las Vegas Residency Backlash, Says It Was “Brutal”

Adele performed a fantastic show at Hyde Park Festival in London, after her 2017 show which she canceled as her vocal cords were damaged.

In an interview with Desert Island Discs on BBC radio, she opened up about the Backlash she faced because of the cancellation of the Las Vegas Residency Show, which was scheduled earlier this year. Which was going to start on 21st January through Mid April at Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

In the interview, she addressed the Las Vegas Residency situation and felt scared for letting everyone down by canceling shows one day prior. Even though she tried to make it pull the show together but she wasn’t able to.

She says,” I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated and frightened about letting them down, and I thought I could pull it together and make it work and I couldn’t, and I stand by that decision.”

Her fans were angry at her because they already had made arrangements for the show like booking hotels, tickets, stay, and so on. But when Adele canceled the show they were all very disappointed. She spoke about the Backlash being quite bad, she said” I just had to wait it out and grieve it, I guess grieve the shows and get over the guilt, but it was brutal.”

Adele shared a crying video of her on Instagram when she informed her fans of the news about the cancellation of “Weekends with Adele Residency”. The shows were canceled because there were delays in delivery due to COVID. She apologized for informing at the last minute but she said, ” half my crew, half my team is down with COVID they still are and it’s been impossible to finish the show”.

She confessed her thoughts about the Las Vegas residency matter by saying that “you can’t buy me for nothing”. Further, she continued, ” I’m not going to just do a show because I have to or because people are going to be let down or because we’re going to lose loads of money. I’m like, the show’s not good enough.”

She further expressed that she will inform fans soon about the rescheduled dates, but if she doesn’t have any updates she can’t give any false hopes to the audience because it leads to disappointment.
