Actress of DC’s Stargirl Teases Exciting Season 3 Plans

Season 2 of Stargirl may have only recently premiered on The CW, but Brec Bassinger, who plays Stargirl, has already begun hinting plans for season 3.

Stargirl premiered on DC Universe, Warner Bros.’ old streaming service for DC Comics material, in 2020, but the show has since moved to The CW for its current season before making its HBO Max debut at some time in the future. Courtney Whitmore, played by Bassinger, discovers the staff of the fallen superhero Starman ten years after he and the Justice Society of America were slaughtered by their enemies.

After defeating the Injustice Society in the second season, Courtney and the newly established Justice Society patrol Blue Valley, only to face fresh challenges in the shape of a new rendition of their foes — Injustice Unlimited — and an even bigger enemy in the form of Eclipso.

It also features the return of John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick/The Flash, as well as the appearance of Ysa Penarejo’s Jade, who claims to be the daughter of former Green Lantern Alan Scott.

freaking pumped

Bassinger was questioned by Collider if there had been any conversations concerning the recently announced third season.

“Showrunner Geoff [Johns] has six seasons planned in his head,” the actress said, adding that ideas for Stargirl season 3 had been discussed when she was initially cast in the show. Bassinger went on to say that now that season 3 has been formally announced, she’s hearing more about it and is “freaking pumped,” assuring that there will be huge pay-offs to what has already been teased and set up throughout the previous two seasons.

Of course, as Bassinger points out, the current plans could alter, but Johns should be able to carry out his vision for the third season.

Fans will not be disappointed if it turns out to be as thrilling as Bassinger has suggested. However, there’s still the remainder of Season 2 to go, and it’ll be fascinating to see what the showrunner has in store and what he’s laying the groundwork for Stargirl’s future.
