Ric Flair is unlikely to send any gifts to Eric Bischoff for the holidays this year, as there is a lot of tension between them. What precipitated this situation? Conrad Thompson, a wrestling-focused podcaster, traced some of the feud to comments made by Bischoff for Peacock’s new documentary Woooooo! in an exclusive interview with Wrestling Inc. Senior News Editor Nick Hausman. The show Becoming Ric Flair premieres on December 26.
Thompson stated, “When I asked Eric about it, he didn’t remember what he said in the documentary.” However, Ric stated on the podcast that Eric said something in the documentary that irritated him when he saw it again. Tomlinson pointed out that this was not the first time Flair had taken issue with other people’s comments; the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary from a few years ago was a source of contention for the Nature Boy.
However, Thompson added that Flair’s dissatisfaction with Bischoff might be traced back to his glory days in the ring. I know Ric has mentioned on our talk show a few times that he feels underappreciated in WCW in comparison to Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and others, he said. In his imagination, those guys came in, earned more money, then he was asked to take them over. Of course, that’s the nature of the job, and yet Ric certainly feels a certain way regarding it and harbours some ill will toward Eric.
A Medical Emergency During The Last Match
He competed in a retiree match at WrestleMania 24 more than 14 years ago, losing to Shawn Michaels, effectively ending his career. Flair, on the other hand, refused to retire. After the match against Michaels, Flair wrestled in 16 more matches. The majority of which were in TNA, which is now recognised as Impact Wrestling.
Flair fought his final match before 2021 on an episode of Impact in 2011, losing to Sting. This fight was not nearly as anticipated as his previous match against Michaels three years prior. At the age of 73, the Nature Boy decided to come out of retirement one more time, fronting the Ric Flair’s Last Match incident during Starrcast 5. Many saw this as dangerous because of the health issues Flair had been dealing with on and off over the last few years. The wrestling legend did indeed have issues during his return match.
