Marvel is getting fans ready for the second half of their new series, WandaVision. They released an interesting new trailer after they released half of the first season already.

The show revolves around Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch played by Elizabeth Olsen and Vision played by Paul Bettany. They mysteriously settle down in the town of Westview as the series abruptly starts after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

The first four episodes that were released had fans confused as the couple is presented through the tropes of 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s sitcoms. The trailer that was released recently focuses on a shift towards the 1980s and 1990s which includes their version of Halloween.

WandaVision’s episode 5 trailer begins with Geraldine a.k.a. Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris being ejected out from Westview by Wanda. It then features Darcy Lewis played by Kat Jennings who starred in the first two Thor movies returned to investigate the Westview’s mystery.

The S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward played by Josh Stamberg stated that they have first-person intel from inside. After Monica is ejected, she is seen getting a medical scan of some sort as FBI Agent Jimmy Woo wonders of Westview is an alternate reality or time travel.

Darcy simply retorts, “It’s a sitcom,” as Woo adds, “Starring two Avengers?” as Darcy admits it’s merely, “a working theory.” The trailer also showcases the footage from the first four episodes with Wanda and Vision in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. It also shows bits of footage with their neighbor Agnes played by Kathryn Hahn dressed in the 1980s and 1990s attire.

Is Wanda Being Controlled?

Wanda says, “life moves pretty fast out in the suburbs”. This could be a reference to the classic line from the 1986 classic film, Day Off. One of the many interesting scenes from the trailer is where Vision is dressed up in a crude green and yellow costume himself for Halloween along with a cape.

Vision is heard saying that he thinks something is wrong here when Agnes in her 80s garb asks if they should take it from the top. This indicates that she knows this might be a sitcom. Agnes was earlier seen talking to Herb played by David Payton where she indicated that everyone in the town was different.

Wanda is also seen watching the walls of her home change or perhaps glitch rapidly. She is heard saying that she does not know how any of this started as she re-arranged her home. Vision is then seen walking to the border of the town as he questions what is outside Westview.

The tagline then reads, “Life could be perfect when it’s made just for you.” Wanda then seems to be in a reality tv confessional speaking directly into the camera. She says, “Yeah I’m not sure what that’s about, probably just a case of the Mondays.” The series continues with the fifth episode of its nine-episode season on Friday only on Disney Plus.

Marvel’s Next Villain?

Marvel Studios have appeared to have given us a bad guy that rivals Thanos is just waiting to make their debut. Kevin Feige, the head of the studio has been reluctant to share any information about the MCU’s future plan.

However, there seems to be an arc that is taking shape; which might not be as wide to cover the entirety of Phase 4’s film and Disney+ streaming projects. These do seemingly reflect through MCU’s WandaVisionLoki, and the untitled upcoming sequel of Spider-Man 3 as well as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Within that arc, the new threat seems to be becoming evident as one villain could rival Thanos and might even surpass it. If we look at the ongoing series of WandaVision; Marvel Universe’s own version of the devil Mephisto may be right around the corner.

If you do not know about Mephisto, then here goes. The character is obviously created by Stan Lee and John Buscema who first appeared in The Silver Surfer No. 3. Mephisto serves as a tempter and has made the bargaining round; with almost every hero in the Marvel Universe at one point or another.

The character has been vying for their desires in exchange for a piece of themselves. And when it comes to MCU, the villain fits perfectly after the Infinity Saga landscape. His comic book origins also have strong ties to the Infinity Gems. According to The Silver Surfer Vol. 3 No. 45, Mephisto being pure evil was born when the One-Above-All died by suicide.
