Promising Young Woman Being Released On-Demand
Promising Young Woman has increased demand and a release date set for the end of next week. The film which stars Carey Mulligan is set as a darkly comedic revenge thriller.
The thriller is produced by Margot Robbie’s production company Luckychap. Carey plays the role of Cassie who is a cunning former medical student seeking revenge for her friend’s rape. The movie also features the directorial debut of Emerald Fennell. He also wrote the screenplay.
The movie and Carey both have received amazing reviews and are already garnering Oscar buzz. Focus Features announced that the film will be available because of the demand it has been having. It will be available from January 15th via digital content platforms such as Amazon Prime, iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play.
The audience will have access to the rental for 48 hours and the film will not be streaming anywhere for free. Promising Young Woman was released last year at Sundance and was released in theaters by December. It was expected to be released in April 2020 but was delayed because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Most of the reviews of the movie have been extremely positive. However, Carey recently lashed out at a Variety reviewer who was criticizing her appearance in the film. The critic had said that Margot would have fitted aesthetically better for the part. Carey clapped back as she shared her disbelief that they were making such a trivial comment.
She said making that comment in that daring female-driven narrative is something she cannot believe. Variety apologized for the offensive and misguided commentary.
“I like the fact that the film makes us kind of reexamine”
Promising Young Woman’s synopsis is as follows: Everyone said Cassie (Carey Mulligan) was a promising young woman… until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be; she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past; in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story.

The actress shared that she likes to play parts where she can’t figure things out on the page.
