YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul will now face MMA fighter Mike Perry on July 20th after his highly anticipated bout with Mike Tyson was postponed.

Tyson’s return to the ring has been delayed due to a health issue, forcing Paul to find a new opponent for his July fight date. Rumors of a potential Paul vs. Perry matchup had been circulating after Tyson’s postponement, and on June 18th, the fight was officially confirmed.

The Fight Details

The Paul vs. Perry fight will take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, a change from the originally planned location in Texas and broadcast platform of Netflix. The fight will be an eight-round cruiserweight bout and will air on DAZN pay-per-view.

Motivations for the Matchup

While disappointed about the Tyson delay, Paul expressed his desire to stay active and fight on July 20th. His brother, Logan, even offered to step in as a replacement for Tyson, but it seems the focus remains on broadcasting Tyson’s return at a later date.

“When Paul vs. Tyson was rescheduled, I knew immediately that I wanted to still fight on Saturday, July 20,” Paul said. “Now, as I prepare for my fight against Iron Mike, there’s no better opponent for me than Mike Perry.”

Paul sees Perry as a valuable test before his rescheduled fight with Tyson. Perry is a seasoned MMA fighter known for his knockout power and aggressive fighting style.

“He’s a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring,” Paul said. “This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson.”

Perry’s Perspective

Mike Perry has vowed to put on an exciting fight and challenge Paul. While some, like former UFC champion Michael Bisping, have warned Paul about the dangers of facing Perry, the YouTuber remains confident.

“Those who know me know I’m a risk taker and while ‘Platinum’ Perry might try to end me, I’m Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no man,” Paul said.

With the fight officially announced, all eyes are on how Paul will perform against a tough opponent like Perry. This bout will be a crucial test for Paul’s boxing skills and a preview of what fans can expect when he eventually faces Mike Tyson in the ring.
